It is possible to drive through France in one day. To do this we would recommend
taking an over night ferry to Caen, and then a route via Tours, Bordeaux,
Toulouse and Foix, taking a military approach to any stops.
For anyone short for time, or averse to much driving, investigate fly-drive options ('Easy Jet', 'Ryan Air', FlyBe, etc). To Barcelona which is two to three hours away, and a straightforward drive via the "Tunel del Cadi". Alternatively fly to Perpignan (1½hr), Toulouse or Carcassonne (2½hr). A train and then hire-car, or Motorail are other possibilities.
